Black-backed Thornbill is a species of hummingbird found in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. They have very short bills and purplish-black forked tails.
They are considered Endangered because they occupy a very small range, within which their suitable habitat is severely fragmented owing to deforestation, extensive burning and over-grazing.
