Black Jacobin

The Black Jacobin is a large and aggressive hummingbird.

It measures about 5.12 inches in length.

Both sexes are similar. The boldly patterned tail is white with a black center and a thin black terminal band.

Juveniles have cinnamon sides to the throat.

Found in a variety of habitats including woodlands, forest edges, and plantations, foraging from the understory to the canopy.

Found in or near the Atlantic Forest of eastern Brazil, Uruguay, eastern Paraguay, and far north-eastern Argentina.
