Buff-Bellied Hermit 

SCIENTIFIC NAME: Phaethornis subochraceus

The Buff-Bellied Hermit is a species of bird in the family Trochilidae, the hummingbirds.

It is a small hummingbird, about 4.33 – 4.72 inches long.

It has a brownish overall plumage.  It has a black mask, a greenish back, a rusty-buff belly, and a long white-tipped tail.

It is similar Planalto and Cinnamon-throated hermits have a rusty rump, and Planalto is noticeably larger

Main diet consists of nectar and small arthropods.

Deciduous and dry semi-deciduous forests.

Bolivia, Brazil and Paraguay.
