SCIENTIFIC NAME: Chlorostilbon olivaresi
The Chiribiquete Emerald is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae.
It is about 3.15 – 3.54 inches long.
Males are mostly metallic green with blue-green gorget, upper-tail is blue-green and their steely blue tail show a small fork. They have a small pale post-ocular spot.
Females differ by having a pale post-ocular stripe above/behind dusky side of their head, being pale gray below. They have green upper-tail, and tail mostly greenish with blue subterminal band and white tail tips. Outer rectrices are grayish rather than greenish.
Food includes nectar of mostly dispersed flowers as well as insects.
Higher elevation areas often on mesas, in more open forest and savanna, to scrubland.
South-eastern Colombia (Sierra de Chiribiquete).
