The Fiery Topaz is a large, spectacular hummingbird with brilliant iridescent plumage that resides in northern South America. Both sexes have dark brown iris and rufous tail, but the males are larger on average than the females.
Males have a black head and green gorget. Their body is mostly coppery, with a long central pair of feathers that cross each other. Females are all green with rust and yellow gorget and yellow feet.
