The Glittering-throated Emerald, a fairly common small hummingbird, is found in the Amazon Basin, Venezuela, the Guianas and Brazil. Both sexes are similar. They are metallic green overall, with a white spot behind their eyes, a pale vent, and a bluish-black tail with a greenish base. Head is glossy bronze-green and the straight bill show a blackish mandible, pinkish lower mandible with a dusky tip.
