SCIENTIFIC NAME: Campylopterus largipennis
The Gray-Breasted Sabrewing is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae.
It is a large hummingbird measuring 4.9 – 5.9 inches long.
It has green upperparts and uniformly gray underparts. Tail is mostly dusky, and broad with large white tips.
Both sexes have similar plumage. Bill is slightly decurved and black.
Main diet consists of nectar.
Occurs mostly in forest clearings and other open forested habitats, such as forest edges, tree fall gaps, and gardens.
Found in humid forest in the Guianas and the Amazon Basin with a smaller disjunct population (subspecies diamantinensis) in forest and woodland in Bahia and Minas Gerais in eastern Brazil.
They build a cup-shaped nest from moss.
