HUMMINGBIRD SPECIES:
 
The Purple-backed Thornbill is a small hummingbird with an extremely short, straight bill and a fairly long, notched tail. It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forest. Males are brilliant purple above and green below, while females are green above and whitish below with dense green spotting, especially on the flanks.
