SCIENTIFIC NAME: Tangara cyanocephala
The Red-necked Tanager is a handsome, small tanager.
It is 5 inches long.
Adults have a red neck, a blue cap, green body, with some yellow on wing and black on back and on face around bill.
Females have less yellow on wing, less black on back and a duller, more orangey neck.
Juveniles are predominantly green with tell-tale flecks of adult color, such as red neck and blue cap, with black face.
The diet consists of fruit, berries and also insects.
Natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and heavily degraded former forest.
Found in Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay.
