SCIENTIFIC NAME: Lophornis adorabilis

White-crested Coquette

The White-crested Coquette is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae.

It is a tiny hummingbird measuring 3.15 inches long.

Males are unmistakable with spiky white crest and dark green feathers that extend back from the side of the neck. They also have a white chest, rufous belly, and a white band across rump.

Females are similar to Black-crested Coquette, but have a rufous belly.

Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and heavily degraded former forest.

Quite rare, with restricted range in lowlands and foothills of Costa Rica and western Panama.
