HUMMINGBIRD SPECIES:
             
The White-tipped Sicklebill is a relatively large hummingird species found in Costa Rica and Panama of Central America and Colombia, Ecuador, and far northern Peru. It has a very distinctive sickle-shaped bill. Males and females are similar, but females have shorter wings than that of males. They have dark shining green upperparts, blackish-brown upperwing and bronzy-green tail which is broadly tipped with white. Underparts are heavily streaked with black and white.
